ENGLISH WOODEN “QUEEN ANNE” DOLL. Charming carved wooden doll with one piece head and torso with jointed wooden legs at both hips and knees, cloth upper arms with lower wooden spoon type hands. Appropriately dressed in antique silk brocade fabrics as would have been worn in the late 1790s early 1800s. Head has layers of gesso and painted with inset pupiless glass eyes, dot eye lashes, rouge cheeks with painted nostrils and bee stung shaped painted mouth. This doll had originally been in the Mary Merritt Museum collection, located Douglassville, PA. SIZE: 26″ (66cm). CONDITION: Good considering age, minor touch up to forehead, nose and cheek. There are also several flakes of gesso, but this is typical for this type of doll. 1-12433 (5,000-7,000)
