EARLIEST PERIOD JUMEAU “EJ” BEBE. Beautiful example from one of the earliest fully marked Jumeau children with head incised “10 EJ” with the 10 being directly above the letters on her original early wood and composition body with eight separate ball joints, straight wrists with large oversized hands. Stamped on the torso “JUMEAU Medaille d’or Paris”. She has lovely blue paperweight eyes, well painted eyebrows and eyelashes, applied ears, closed mouth with well modeled upper lip and dimpled chin having nice even coloring. She has been well costumed in an antique style cream brocade silk with drop waist and large beige ribbon sash. Blond French mohair wig is most likely original and she retains her original cork pate. Shoes are antique pink oil cloth impressed on soles “10 Paris Depose” with the so-called “BEE” logo. Although old, they are not as old as the doll. Stockings are antique pink cotton which matches the silk bonnet with pink plumes. SIZE: 22” (55cm) t. CONDITION: Head is very good to excellent with one minor wig flake on back of head. Body retains its original finish with minor typical wear at joints and a few faint cracks on the fingers. 1-10375 (6,500-8,500)
