Correction: Drum heads are distressed. FABULOUS GERMAN CRANK AUTOMATON WITH 7 FIGURES. An outstanding as well as clever automaton, circa 1920s featuring six bisque headed jester figures playing various instruments led by bisque headed conductor. An unusually large piece for this particular venue, the characters’ faces with open/closed mouths and painted eyes make this a most charming and appealing item. The wooden box is covered in a paper litho as well as a carpeted floor. When activated, the conductor moves on his pedestal, directs the band members who twist about in their chairs or turn their heads while playing their instruments. A different and more elaborate crank automaton than usually one encounters. SIZE: 17″ w x 15″ d x 12″ h. CONDITION: Overall appears to be in very fine original condition. Conductor needs to be re-secured to pedestal. 1-10487 (2,000-3,000) Auction: Advertising, Toy & Doll - Spring 2010 Please Note: All prices include the hammer price plus the buyer’s premium, which is paid by the buyer as part of the purchase price. The prices noted here after the auction are considered unofficial and do not become official until after the 46th day. |
