RARE “U.S.’ MODEL 1816 NAVY MUSKET BY WATERS. Cal. 69. 42” rnd bbl. Dated “1833” on lockplate and bbl tang. “JM” cartouche in oval on left side of the stock. Heavy brass buttplate was made to install in racks on shipboard. It is unmarked. Lockplate is marked “US / A.WATERS” with no eagle in front of the hammer and “MILLBURY / 1833” in two vertical lines at the tail. Reconversion. CONDITION: Rust/brown patina overall, some pitting. Wood has been repaired in front of the lockplate. Mechanically good. 4-57057 (1,500-3,000)
