FITTED MAHOGANY CUSTOM TELESCOPE BOX. Second quarter 19th century. Rectangular hinged lid with molded edge mounted in the center with campaign style fitted brass carrying handle, the plate engraved “Captain Ainsworth / WARRINGTON”. Centered by an incised floral spray. Lid opening to an interior lined in original velvet, the box of dovetailed construction. SIZE: 3″ h x 37″ l x 8-1/2″ d. CONDITION: With shrinkage cracks in lid, proper right side. Width in need of reattachment to frame. Shrinkage crack in bottom, and missing wedge. 9-96472 (400-600)
