SALESMAN SAMPLE CLARK COFFIN LOWERING DEVICE. One of the most unusual and morbid salesman samples we have had the pleasure of offering. Consisting of a nickeled vault (representing the ground), it contains a dual brass rack and pinion mechanism that raises and (more aptly) lowers the coffin into the ground while under cover of the flip top lid that is proudly emblazoned “Clark” across the top. A lever allows the platform to be locked into place until the dearly departed is ready for their final descent. Complete with solid wood display casket. SIZE: 18″ l (plus crank) x 9″ d x 17-3/4″ h. PROVENANCE: The late Terry Wesner collection, Chelsea, Michigan. CONDITION: Very good to excellent and working with some tarnishing and oxidation. 1-12719 (800-1,200) Auction: Advertising, Toy & Doll - June 2013 Please Note: All prices include the hammer price plus the buyer’s premium, which is paid by the buyer as part of the purchase price. The prices noted here after the auction are considered unofficial and do not become official until after the 46th day. |
