HARTFORD STEAM BOILER TIN SIGN. Stone lithographed tin sign for the “Hartford Steam Boiler Inspection and Insurance Co.” manufactured by the “Kellogg & Bulkeley Co., Hartford, Conn.” Sign features a wonderful finely detailed illustration of the “Comet” steam locomotive flanked by graphics of two steam pressure gauges. This company was founded in 1866 and started out by insuring the boilers on steam locomotives. They remain in business today having grown into a global company. SIZE: In frame 19-1/2″ w. x 13-1/2″ t. CONDITION: Sign has nice graphic appeal and a great look with professional restoration. The green and beige background colors have been repainted. The floral corner decorations, locomotive illustration, words “Hartford – Conn.”, and steam gauges all appear original. The lettering for the company has also had some restoration. 1-9774 (2,500-3,500)
