HEPPLEWHITE MAHOGANY SEA CAPTAIN’S LIQUOR CHEST. First quarter 19th century. The figured mahogany box brass bound and with oval brass carrying handles embossed with lion’s masks. The hinged lid opening to an interior fitted with six small matching decanters, all gilt decorated with lozenge stoppers additionally fitted with a matching oval glass tray with scalloped gilt edges. The lid fitted with a pair of matching small stems. Accompanied with its original key. SIZE: 8″ h x 10-1/4″ w x 8-1/2″ d. PROVENANCE: From a fine Maine home. CONDITION: With original polished surfaces and hardware. Decanters, tray and stems also original. Lid with old surface crack otherwise very good. 9-21916 (600-900)
