EARLY 1870s FRENCH FASHION WITH UNUSUAL BODY. Pale bisque shoulder head doll is unmarked but possibly having characteristics of Rohmer with blue glass eyes and almond shaped eye cuts. Chubby faced with double chin, closed mouth, large molded ears on very interesting body having kid over wood upper torso, upper arms and lower legs with nicely modeled bisque forearms with individually molded fingers. Lower part of torso is gusseted leather with articulation at the knees and elbows. No markings were found on either head or body. She wears a two piece cream taffeta walking dress, a midnight blue velvet cape and a newer blond mohair wig over cork pate with hat matching cape with additional purple silk ribbon rosettes. She has one newer oil cloth shoe and undergarments are all antique. SIZE: 18″ (46cm) t. CONDITION: Very good; two inherent indentations on right side of head above the right eye. 1-12304 (4,000-6,000)
