SCALE MODEL OF THE STEAM ENGINE “LORD BALTIMORE”. A painstaking as well as time consuming devotion went into the creation of the Lord Baltimore 4-6-4 steam locomotive that operated in the early to mid-20th century. Constructed of metal and wood with working side rods, an abundance of gauges, levers, etc. in the engine cab. The tender itself with a prolific amount of simulated riveting to the sides. Much attention is paid to the detailing such as the cowcatcher, the steps leading to the boiler front, the railings, etc. Unfortunately, the creator of this wonderful scale model is unknown, but was either a railway worker or an aficionado of railroads. One can only imagine the time spent creating this model. The planning, the creation, the assembly easily could have taken years. Included with the lot is a display track (approx 72″ long with rails and ties). SIZE: Approx. 70″ l. CONDITION: Overall very fine plus. Slight dustiness to paint. 1-10372 (2,500-4,500)
