SFBJ POULBOT CHILD. Manufactured by SFBJ in the first quarter of the 20th century, these dolls were modeled after the young street urchins of France. They later became known as Poulbot and SFBJ then produced and manufactured the “Poulbot” doll. Francisque Poulbot was an artist born in 1879. He then as an artist became the champion of the disadvantaged children, especially the orphans of France. Normally these dolls would be dressed in rags as an urchin would be seen wearing. However, this child has three additional outfits. Included is also a book, a story about the artist and the work he did for the disadvantaged youth. The bisque headed doll is on its original 5-piece composition body and has the original amber glass eyes with original plaster setting. A most appealing doll, the bisque is uniform with some blush highlighting on the upper cheek bones and excellent molding. The golden blond mohair wig appears to be original as do his shoes and socks. Very desirable dolls that are seldom found, especially in such fine condition. SIZE: 14″ h. CONDITION: Overall very fine original condition. Bisque head appears to be free of any hairlines or major issues. A couple of minor chips in neck socket. 1-12539 (3,500-5,500) Auction: Advertising, Toy & Doll - Fall 2012 Please Note: All prices include the hammer price plus the buyer’s premium, which is paid by the buyer as part of the purchase price.
