BASSETT-LOWKE LIVE STEAM ENGLISH OUTLINE ENGINE & TENDER. A fine 4-4-0 with six-wheel tender and LMS 1000 markings. Bassett-Lowke produced a prolific amount of live steam trains that were most popular to British children as well as adults. Their true ability to replicate trains in miniature form is amazing. Revered by collectors, these toys were perhaps (or more fair to say) models were most durable, and like their real counterparts, very resilient and functional. Bassett-Lowke produced many different models and it is easy to understand why these trains many, many years later are sought after by collectors. Included with this lot are four wooden Bassett-Lowke cars: 2 boxcars, 1 gondola, and 1 tank car. SIZE: 23″ l. CONDITION: Overall very fine. Engine missing marker lamps. Some flaking to black paint in tender bed. Cars are overall very fine plus. Tank car has minor flaking to one side. 1-9826 (500-1,000)
