FINE VOLCANIC #2 NAVY REPEATING PISTOL. Cal. 41. SN 1442. Fantastic near new volcanic with 8″ oct bbl with integral magazine tube marked on the top flat “THE VOLCANIC / REPEATING ARMS CO. / PATENT NEW HAVEN CONN. FEB. 14. 1854”. It has a brass frame with blued lever, bolt and carrier and case colored hammer with 2-pc walnut grip. The Volcanic Arms Co. was only in business from 1855 to early 1857 and produced only about 3,000 pistols total production of which only about 1,500 were with 8″ bbl. CONDITION: Extremely fine plus. All matching including the grips. As new, appears to be unfired. Retains virtually all of its strong bright orig blue on the bbl and carrier, thin on bottom of carrier. Bolt shows light wear and the bbl is slightly thinned and dull about midpoint. Lever blue is bright and glossy and the carrier blue although lightly flaked is also bright and glossy. Hammer retains most of its orig case colors, generally faded. Mechanics are crisp. Brilliant shiny bore. A fantastic specimen worthy of any museum or collection. 4-57560 JR309 (30,000-50,000)
