JAMES W. TUFTS CO. SILVER PLATED ADVERTISING SHAVING MIRROR. Stunning heavily embossed silver plated shaving mirror from the James W. Tufts Co. of Boston, Mass., who also manufactured soda fountain equipment in addition to producing fine silverplate. The top of the picoting mirror frame reads “Silverplated Ware of Highest Grade and Most Artistic Design Manufactured by James W. Tufts, Boston, Mass.” Wording seen on flowing banners at mirror sides reads “Hard White Metal with Quadruple Plate of Silver–Satisfaction Guaranteed in Every Particular”. The bottom of the mirror frame is embossed with “An Assortment of This Ware is Sold By” and has the store merchant’s name engraved below, “Lewis Selig”. Selig started his jewelry business in Norfolk, VA, but eventually moved it to Elizabeth City, NC where he established “Louis Selig Jewelers in 1882, which is still in business today.
