EDOUARD ADAM (French, 1847-1929) PORTRAIT OF THE STEAMSHIP “LAKE FORNEY”. Oil on canvas ship portrait of the Great Lakes ship “Lake Forney”. It travels right to left in blue wavy water. The ship having a single stack with two-masts, flying the American flag and having five crew members on deck. A two-stack ship is seen off the bow and land is off the stern. Signed lower right “Ed. Adam 192_”. Housed in a replacement gilt molded wood frame. The “Lake Forney” was built in 1919 by American Ship Building Co. at Cleveland, OH U.S. It was a steel hulled propeller driven vessel with a length of 251 feet, and a width of 43 feet. It displaces 2624 tons, and has a load capacity of 1623 tons. It entered service in the year 1919 under the ownership of U.S. Shipping Board of Washington, DC U.S. It was scrapped in Germany in 1929.
