GROUP OF NATIVE AMERICAN OBJECTS. Late 19th-early 20th century. Including a rare and unusual woven water carrier retaining original woven basket-form sling; a gourd-form rattle; two shallow baskets, including one with a design of three winged creatures; a small beaded pouch embellished with a flower and the initials “SP”; and a table rug of diamond and snowflake forms on a green ground. SIZE: WATER CARRIER: 23-1/2″ h. GOURD RATTLE: 12″ l. BASKETS: 8-1/2″ d. and 11-1/2″ d. POUCH: 3″ x 3-1/4″. RUG: 32″ x 21-1/2″. PROVENANCE: From an East Sangerville, Maine private collection. Bequeathed from the estate of Hanna Lane Gray of East Sangerville to Sidney and Alice Davidson, Brooklyn Heights, New York, and by descent to the present owner, a grand-daughter. CONDITION: Water carrier with damage around upper lip and breaks to straps. Gourd rattle with small crack at handle. Pouch and two baskets with no visible issues. 9-94958 (400-800)
