AMOS & ANDY AND OLD JALOPY MANUFACTURED BY MARX. 1) A classic 1930s open air Amos & Andy open taxi. A wonderful tin toy that when wound would shake, rumble, hesitate and take off moving slowly ahead. The horseshoe for radiator cap, crank to start engine and the somewhat decrepit look about the taxi are most comical. Toy is complete and overall in very fine condition. 2) This toy produced in the late 30s-early 40s is reminiscent of college kids gone wild and decorating the car with a variety of sayings such as “Kilroy Wasn’t Here”, “Tall, Dark & Grusome”, etc. Once again Marx produced a variety of toys for children that have become true classics and highly sought after by collectors today. SIZE: 8″ & 7″ respectively. CONDITION: 1) Overall very fine plus. Minor blemish to litho on right rear of cab. 2) Very fine plus to near mint. 1-10508 (400-800) Auction: Advertising, Toy & Doll - Spring 2010 Please Note: All prices include the hammer price plus the buyer’s premium, which is paid by the buyer as part of the purchase price. The prices noted here after the auction are considered unofficial and do not become official until after the 46th day. |
