TWO AMERICAN MOURNING WATERCOLORS. Mid 19th century. The oval example depicting a woman, hat in hand, seated on a wooded hillside, a dog at her feet. The round example depicting 2 young girls seated in front of a cage in the act of releasing doves. Both watercolors are unsigned and framed in later gold gilt frames. SIZE: Oval: 10″ x 8″ sight. Round: 8-3/4″ d sight. CONDITION: Both watercolors in very good condition, the oval example with small crease at bottom, the round example with some smudging at opening of bird cage, the frame with old repairs. 9-95806 (1,000-2,000)
