J & E STEVEN SPEAKING DOG MECHANICAL BANK (BLUE DRESS). Slightly more scarce than red dress Shepard Hardware version, this bank appealed to both children and adults alike. Lovely girl sits in Victorian sofa with large brown dog at her side. One hand holds a paddle and the other is raised as if to say, “Speak!”. When coin is placed on girl’s paddle and lever is pushed, coin is dropped into sofa and dog’s mouth opens and his tail wags. SIZE: 7-1/2″ l x 7-1/2″ h. CONDITION: The paint on the girl and dog is in exceptional above average condition with vibrant color and very little wear and only very minor chipping. The bank itself shows minor wear and slightly more pronounced wear at the front of the bank at the typical handling spots. Missing trap. Definitely a bank for a more advanced collector. 1-12083 (2,500-4,500)
