SIGNED (Belgian, Late 19th Century) LANDSCAPE AND SHEEP. Fine oil on canvas landscape scene shows a shepherd with flock of sheep in pasture lined with tall trees. Red roofed and white stucco buildings are seen beyond under a white cloud and blue sky. Fully signed bottom right but illegible. A label from the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts is attached to reverse indicating an unknown artist and Gift of Judge Barton Payne. Housed in what probably its its original frame having a gilt liner, gilt and gesso decoration and old name plaque. SIZE: 21-1/4″ x 28-1/2″. CONDITION: Craquelure, some inpainting.
