NEW ENGLAND “TREE OF LIFE” PAINT DECORATED BLANKET BOX. Circa 1800. This fine example in original paint with overall zigzag and splotch decoration. The front and rear panels depicting Tree of Life pattern. The hinged rectangular top with applied molded edges opening to a paper-lined storage well. The dovetailed box on original molded plinth. SIZE: 16″ h x 30-1/2″ l x 18″ d. CONDITION: The top with old splice repair at proper left hinge. Paint, moldings and lock all original. With wear to painted surfaces overall. 9-21764 (1,500-2,000)
