COIN-O-MATIC CASHIER. Vintage 1930s nickel exchanger. Deposit a quarter or a dime, push the lever, and receive change in nickels. A metal tag on top of the machine proclaims, “Nickels when you need them!” Obviously a machine of this nature was mounted to the wall and utilized in an environment where nickels were king. Whether it be for slot machines or some other quasi-gambling device, the operator ensured some way to dispose of any excess coinage in your pocket. A metal tag indicates that this is NOT a gaming device and only U.S. Government coins are contained within. Manufactured by the Coin-O-Matic Cashier Company of Seattle, Washington, the case is the typical art deco 1920s-30s style and made of heavy cast aluminum. Unfortunately, this device is lacking a key, so we are unable to view its interior, but more than likely, a simple mechanism within and likely still operational. Polished aluminum casting highlighted with red trim and nickel plated coin entries. SIZE: 17-1/2″ h x 6-1/2″ d x 13-1/2″ w. CONDITION: Overall excellent. Mechanism untested. 1-12990 (200-400)
