A SIMONETTI (Italian School, 20th Century) GATHERING FLOWERS. Large oil on canvas landscape scene shows two girls holding gathering basket which is full of flowers and bunches of flowers in their hands. They walk along a grassy section near water. Several house ruins are seen against a smoking volcano background. Other people are seen at edge of water with city beyond. The scene is shown under a multi-shaded blue sky. Signed lower right with what appears to be “A. Simonetti”. Housed in a gilt molded wood frame with white linen and gilt liner. SIZE: 24-1/2″ x 40-1/2″. CONDITION: Restretched on new stretcher, restored and inpainted. 9-94044 (3,000-4,000)
