JOE SOCKO & POPEYE NOVELTY BANKS. Made by Straits Corp. Base of Joe Socko bank is brightly lithographed, and on top are two boxers. When coin is deposited one boxer pivots, hitting his opponent. Boxers themselves are nickel-plated. This bank also comes with very hard to find original box. Popeye and Bluto stand on top of box lithographed with all the familiar characters (Wimpy, Olive Oyl, etc.) It has the same action as the Joe Socko bank. SIZE: Each 4-3/4″ h. CONDITION: Joe Socko bank is excellent plus, with some minor oxidation to boxers. Original box is distressed and missing one end flap; has hole on bottom. Lithography on Popeye bank excellent to near mint, but figures have some oxidation and discoloration. Also has replaced trap. Overall, both very attractive banks. 1-9927, 1-9930 (400-700)
