COIN OPERATED HAUNTED CHURCHYARD WORKING MODEL. Another typical amusing English working model, often found in arcades and other venues. This model depicts a church and its adjacent graveyard. Sitting atop a grave is the village drunkard, and when the machine is activated, a series of comical encounters begin. Popping up from beyond the rear stone fence is a fellow sot and a ghost. Within the graveyard itself, a tomb at the rear opens and an ominous figure appears, and from the flagstone walkway one of the stones rises and a skeleton appears. The village drunkard must be taken aback as the cover of the grave upon which he sits slowly rises and a skeleton appears. The church, which is constructed of fancy aluminum castings, the one window opens to reveal a skull and crossbones. Purported to have been made in the 1950s by the Kraft Company, this amusing device is in a wooden cabinet with what appears to be its original finish and is wired for 220, but a converter accompanies the machine and is ready to plug into any 120 volt outlet. In fully operational condition, the machine appears to be complete. SIZE: 70″ h x 18″ d x 25″ w. CONDITION: Overall very good to near excellent, lacking keys for front door. A small maker’s plaque is missing. 1-12992 (2,000-4,000) Auction: Advertising, Toy & Doll - June 2013 Please Note: All prices include the hammer price plus the buyer’s premium, which is paid by the buyer as part of the purchase price.
