BAKER BOY (“INDIAN”) GUM VENDOR. A really neat and visually appealing gum vendor with a clockwork type mechanism manufactured by Manikin Vendor Co of Portland, OR. Four versions featuring the same figure, but painted in alternative style, this is perhaps the rarest one featuring an Indian (original paint finish to figure). The machine has had restoration, perhaps 5-10 years ago and a new metal tag on front. Operation is somewhat simple, dropping a penny into the slot, one would crank the lever 180 degrees, the Indian would then turn, opening the door, retrieving a gumball in his scoop and then turning back to the customer while dropping the gumball into a chute. Amazing action, in need of some minor adjustment to work properly. SIZE: 16″ t x 6″ d. CONDITION: Overall condition as stated above. 1-13503 (2,000-4,000) Auction: Advertising, Toy & Doll - Fall 2013 Please Note: All prices include the hammer price plus the buyer’s premium, which is paid by the buyer as part of the purchase price. The prices noted here after the auction are considered unofficial and do not become official until after the 46th day. |
