KALEIDOSCOPE CANDY CONTAINER WITH ORIGINAL BOX. Extremely rare, one of only a few known to exist, this tin and glass candy container is one of the most sought after of all candy containers, and perhaps the best to hit the market thus far. Patented by Turney G. Stough, circa 1913, it retains nearly all of its paper decal reading “Moving Pictures” with directions for use “By West Bros. & Co., Grapeville, PA”. Even more amazing is the presence of its original box stuffed with what appears to be its original excelsior. With matching paper label and storekeeper’s decal for Boyd’s five and dime store in York, PA, this is indeed a rare treasure. SIZE: 7″ h x 3″ w. CONDITION: Very good to excellent with tin cylinder showing light even wear to gold and silver finish. Glass cylinder retains what is likely its original candy that has solidified into a solid mass. Box is near excellent with square corners. 1-11927 (8,000-10,000) Auction: Advertising, Toy & Doll - Spring 2012 Please Note: All prices include the hammer price plus the buyer’s premium, which is paid by the buyer as part of the purchase price. The prices noted here after the auction are considered unofficial and do not become official until after the 46th day. |
