GROUP OF HATCH FAMILY DOCUMENTS ASSEMBLED BY JOSEPH W. HATCH. First half 19th century. This selection includes Richmond Hatch’s 1834 workbook of mathematical studies, various calligraphic examples of various family members, an 1822 letter of thanks to Captain Hatch and a 2003 compilation titled “THE LAST VOYAGE OF RICHMOND HATCH ON BOARD THE SHIP HOWARD 1840” written by Joseph W. Hatch. Within this book are photocopies of the documents sold here along with a brief family history. Also included is the original letter from New Orleans dated February 20, 1840 to Captain Joseph Hatch from his son, Richmond Hatch, telling of life aboard ship and an original letter dated Liverpool, England, May 24, 1840, from Captain Charles Williams of the ship “Howard” notifying Captain Hatch of the death of his son.
