HORSE RACE MECHANICAL BANK. Manufactured by J. & E. Stevens. This fairly scarce bank has a great concept. A stable boy stands near the coin slot, and when coin is placed in slot and string under the race course is pulled, the two horses begin the race. This bank came in two versions, with a straight base and a flanged base, and this is the flanged base version. SIZE: 5-1/2″ h. CONDITION: Gates, striped side and flanged base have been in-painted. Does have original horses and jockey which are usually missing, but they also have been in-painted. Although with these condition issues, bank still has very nice appearance and would be a fine addition for a collector. 1-9858 (2,000-4,000)
