CONTINENTAL CARVED AND GILT DECORATED LOOKING GLASS. Dated 1718 and so carved on back of crest. The rectangular mirrorplate within a molded surround, the cresting comprised of opposing birds’ heads centering a plume crest, all bordered with scrolling leaf tips. Lower apron of scrolling leaf tips centering stylized shell. SIZE: 22″ h x 14-1/2″ w. CONDITION: Now painted over gilding with gold paint. Backboard appears original. Carved behind plumed crest is “1718 M.R.” All parts of crest and apron appear hand carved and planed. 9-22035 (400-600)
