CONTINENTAL MAHOGANY AND PARCEL GILT WINE COOLER ON STAND. First quarter 19th century, probably French. The basket form body with flared sides fitted with a conforming brass liner and with brass swing handle joined to a tripartite base with out-swept legs in the form of exotic birds terminating in claw feet joined to the tripartite shelf raised on gilded ball feet. The container brass banded and with giltwood pendant acorn finial. The whole additionally with brass stringing. SIZE: 20-1/2″ h x 13-1/2″ dia. PROVENANCE: From a fine Massachusetts home. CONDITION: The original surfaces with veneer losses and with some old structural damage to base of holder. Otherwise good. 9-22116 (1,000-1,500)
