ATTRIBUTED TO THOMAS BUTTERSWORTH JR (British, 1797-1842) “STORM IN THE CHANNEL”. Oil on wood panel shows ships floundering in a storm off a cliffside shoreline. Five ships are present. All under a dark gray sky with showers with an opening having sunlit area. Appears to be unsigned. Housed in a gilt gesso decorated frame. SIZE: 11″ x 14-1/2″.
