EAGLE AND EAGLETS MECHANICAL BANK. Manufactured by J & E Stevens. This was a very popular bank at the turn of the century. Originally sold as the American Eagle Bank. Bank has great form, as a large American Eagle is perched on tree. Coin is placed in eagle’s mouth, and when lever is pressed bird drops coin in nest while the two eaglets in nest appear to start feeding. Also has a bellows that makes a squeak sound when lever is pressed. Bank has great castings and colors which probably attributes to its popularity. SIZE: Height 6-1/4″ CONDITION: Bank is in excellent to pristine condition. An overall superior example with bright colors. The bellow also works! Although a common bank, a rarity in this condition. 1-9893 (1,500-2,500)
