THREE SAND TOYS. A nice grouping of three early sand toys, circa mid to later 1800s. 1) Depicting a black dude playing the banjo and on rear of box is an Andrew Emerine sticker. This gentleman was an extremely well known collector or perhaps I should say a famed collector of mechanical banks and toys in the mid 20th Century. 2) Depicts a Continental soldier standing in front of a fireplace with a black gentleman seated playing a banjo and a gentleman on the other side playing his fiddle. While the three figures in motion, a dog is also moving about and upon close examination two mice are playing instruments although these two figures are still. On rear of box there are directions and this particular piece is referred to as a mechanical box with automations. 3) Is also identical in nature to box #2 with the exception that the figure is a young gentleman. Directions on rear of box are in English, German & French and indicating perhaps the maker’s name Gerard Camagni. SIZE: Smallest is 5″ x 7″. Remaining are 9″ x 7″. CONDITION: Overall condition, considering age is good to very good and typical of sand toys occasionally they are somewhat reticent to work, but all three are functional. 1-11931, 1-11932, 1-11933 (1,000-2,000)
