SQUIRREL AND TREE STUMP MECHANICAL BANK. Manufactured by Mechanical Novelty Works in New Britain, CT. Advertised as the Squirrel Bank. The bank depicts a squirrel standing on tree stump holding an acorn, and when coin is placed on acorn a lever is pressed in front of the squirrel. The squirrel leans over and deposits a coin in the stump. Although this scarce bank has very simple operation, the casting of the squirrel and stump is very appealing to the eye. SIZE: 7″ l. CONDITION: Bank is in good condition with wear to the stump. Lever and squirrel appear to have restoration. 1-9888 (1,500-2,500)
