J & E STEVENS SPEAKING DOG MECHANICAL BANK & TRADE CARD. A classical mechanical bank from the 1880s, a young girl seated on a bench with a dog at her side. When the coin is placed on her tray and the lever depressed, her right arm drops the coin into the bench, the dog’s mouth opens and his tail wags. Very unusual to find this bank with exceptional paint to the girl’s face which is normally chipped and worn. Accompanied with an original speaking dog trade card. SIZE: 8″ l x approx. 7″ h. CONDITION: Overall very good all original paint with some fading to red dress which is normal and wear to gray base in front of girl’s feet. Trade card appears to be uncut and in overall very fine plus condition. 1-10509 (3,000-4,000)
