18TH CENTURY STERLING SILVER GEORGE III TANKARD. Hallmarked on side “1773/4 London” with makers mark which appears to be “IK” but is partly illegible. A C-shaped handle ending with a raised heart. The cylinder footed body having a single raised band. The handle supporting a wide rim lid with central dome and Onslow pattern thumb lift. The lid having a touch mark which appears to be “IK” similar to the side. WEIGHT: 20 tr. oz. Accompanying the tankard is a 1942 receipt and letter from Dugal Spital for this tankard, Gloucestershire, England. SIZE: 7″ h. PROVENANCE: Garvin/Brady Family. CONDITION: The piece has had several restorations and repairs, some dents to lid rim. 9-22610 (1,500-2,500)
