SCANDINAVIAN NEO-CLASSICAL GILT DECORATED ARCHITECTURAL MIRROR. First half 19th century, possibly Sweden. The rectangular mirror plate within a concave molded surround, the edges with egg and dart and leaf tip molding. Beneath the architectural frieze applied with classical female figures depicting a semi-nude woman seated on a pedestal serenaded by a second female playing a stringed instrument, mounted on a white background. The architectural crest joined to a molded cornice carved with water leaves. The base with a concave apron applied with an anthemion leaf cartouche flanked by masks on an egg and dart molded plinth. SIZE: 61″ h x 28″w overall. CONDITION: Overall in very fine condition with professional early painting and re-gilding. The mirror plate and backboard are later replacements.
