RARE GEORGE WASHINGTON BRONZE INAUGURAL CENTENNIAL GUEST MEDAL SIGNED TIFFANY & CO. The medal comprised of a bronze pin attached to gold “Guest” embossed gold ribbon attached to a ring mounted atop a bronze medal. The pin obverse having a centered script “GW” between years “1789” and “1889”. Above the center initials “New York”. The reverse side of the pin is marked “Tiffany & Co.”. The round 1-3/8″ dia. medal having the obverse depicting a profile bust of Washington wearing a Continental Army uniform, under the inscription “GEORGE WASHINGTON” with the fasces of magistracy on the right, and center inscription “PATER PAT/ RIAE/MDCCL/XX/XIX”, surrounded by a border of thirteen stars. the reverse depicting a spreadwing American eagle with “E. Plvribvs Vnvm” above and the inscription “TO COMMEMORATE THE INAUGURATION OF GEORGE WASHINGTON AS FIRST PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA AT NEW YORK APRIL XXXth, MDCCLXXXIX, BY AUTHORITY OF THE COMMITTEE ON CELEBRATION NEW YORK, APRIL XXXth, MDCCCLXXXIX.,” The lower left depicting the New York State coat of arms.
