RARE QUEEN VICTORIA SILVER MEDAL & 3 OTHERS. 1) 2-1/2″ dia. The obverse having a high relief crowned bust in widows veil, rim with “Victoria Queen of Great Britain & Ireland’s & Empress of India”. Reverse having a winged fame with trumpet standing on Medieval cog sailing right to left. The rim as follows: “Art Saileta though life Faileth Art Union London 1837-1887”. Research indicates that this was the last medal in the Art-Union series of which only 30 were struck by W.J. Taylor, Holborn, London. 2) 3″ bronze medal City of London series dedication of the Epping Forest by C. Weiner dated May 6, 1882. Obverse showing Victoria facing left. The reverse edge having an inscription “It gives me the greatest satisfaction to dedicate this beautiful forest for the use & enjoyment of my people for all time”. Center scene showing Londinia standing opening the gate at the edge of the forest and shows seated on left is Victoria, holding a scepter. Nice brown patina. 3) 1-1/2″ dia. white medal medallion commemorating the visit of Emperor Napoleon III to Queen Victoria, April 1855. Medal made by Allen & Moore. 4) 1-1/2″ dia. bronze medal commemorating Victoria’s Golden Jubilee. Dated 1887. The medal shows a bust of Victoria, the reverse with wreath, crown, and inscription. CONDITION: 1) Surface with some scratches & dings, some slight dents in edge, otherwise very good. 2) Nice brown patina, very good to excellent. 3 & 4) Very good to excellent. 9-21778 (1,000-2,000)
