NEW ENGLAND WILLIAM & MARY WALNUT VENEER HIGHBOY. First half 18th century, possibly Boston. In two parts, the upper case with rectangular molded cornice above the conforming case fitted with two short over three long drawers with herringbone crossbanding fitted to the lower case of three aligned drawers over an apron of molded Gothic arches raised on six bell and baluster turned legs joined by a flat serpentine box stretcher terminating in turned ball feet. Note: the name “Wm Nathaniel” written in chalk on interior left side facing of middle drawer. We cannot find any cabinet maker with this name. Attribution may be the name of the owner. SIZE: 62-1/2″ h x 35-1/2″ w of case x 21″ d. CONDITION: All with cleaned surfaces. Hardware early replacements. Lower case with extensive professional restoration and in some cases replacements throughout. Small veneer losses to crossbanding on drawers of upper case. 9-23124 (2,000-4,000)
