18TH CENTURY CARVED ENGLISH OAK SETTLE. The bench having three-panel back with carved borders and decorative carved elements. The top straight crest having a carved central molded band. Single plank seat, scrolled arms supported by nicely carved posts which extend from the block and turned leg. The bottom legs supported by a box stretcher with incised line decoration. Nice old patina. SIZE: 43″ h x 53-1/2″ l x 20″ at deepest; 18″ seat h x 15″ seat d. PROVENANCE: From a Washington, Maine Estate. CONDITION: Very good with a 1/2″ strip added to inside of plank seat to make up for shrinkage at juncture of back. 9-95779 (2,000-3,000)
