FRAMED SILHOUETTE OF JEREMY HOADLEY. 1st half 19th century. The silhouette of a gentleman with a high collar and top hat purported to be that of Jeremy Hoadley, 12th mayor (1835-1836) of the city of Hartford, Connecticut. Mounted within an early ebonized circular frame. Affixed to the backboard is a newspaper clipping describing the probable origins and provenance of the silhouette being offered here today. SIZE: 5-1/2″ dia. PROVENANCE: Connecticut family home which descended from Sarah Upson Goodrich (Mrs. Oliver R. Beckwith) who descended from the Rev. Charles Chauncey, President of Harvard College and Elder William Brewster. Sarah was a member of the Connecticut chapter of the National Society of the Colonial Dames of America. CONDITION: Silhouette very good, backing paper with discoloration. The frame is very good. 9-21859 (500-1,000)
