EXCEPTIONAL ROYAL SCOT BASSETT-LOWKE LIVE STEAM ENGINE. This English outline live steam engine perhaps was intended only as a store display as it is fastened into a custom cabinet and is in exceptional, near mint, original condition. This 4-6-0 locomotive with a brass Royal Scot plaque and a Bassett-Lowke plaque on rear of tender is colored in typical English maroon with black and gilt trim. Labeled 6100 on engine cab and “LMS” on the six-wheel tender, possibly this engine was never “fired up” or run. Lacking head lamp on front of boiler and two marker lamps in front of engine boiler (slid on and off). These probably have been missing for some time due to the fact that they were never firmly affixed. The paint finish appears to be all original with some alligatoring, especially noticeable on tender. SIZE: Overall length of engine and tender is 25″. CONDITION: As noted above. 1-9746 (1,500-2,500) Auction: Advertising, Toy & Doll - Fall 2009 Please Note: All prices include the hammer price plus the buyer’s premium, which is paid by the buyer as part of the purchase price. The prices noted here after the auction are considered unofficial and do not become official until after the 46th day. |
