LIONEL STANDARD GAUGE BLUE COMET #390 ENGINE & TENDER WITH LIKE NEW BOXED TEMPEL OBSERVATION. First series Blue Comet #390 engine enameled in light blue on the boiler with a dark blue frame with cream stripe. Engine has typical Bild-A-Loco engine and unfortunately the frame is intact, but has warped with age. The Tempel passenger car, which is the all nickel version, is virtually like new, unplayed with condition with a few minute chips. In its original box which is like a “brick”. This observation car as well as the other passenger cars in the set could have been purchased from Madison Hardware individually in the 1930s-40s and unfortunately the passenger cars sold out much quicker than the observations. CONDITION: As stated above. #390 loco has slight bend at edge of right rear cab roof. 1-12860, 1-12900 (1,000-1,500)
