PAPER LITHO AUTOMATED BARN SCENE DIORAMA. This fabulous late 19th or early 20th Century diorama was distributed by the Parisian Importing Co. It features elaborately lithographed animated and articulated black characters enjoying a barn dance. Women and men dance in the doorway, musicians on either side play their instruments, and a mammy in the foreground feeds her child while a horse nods his head off to the side. Titled twice within the lithography in the barn rafters “A Great Racket”. All framed in an old elaborate gold painted gesso frame (which may or may not be original). A truly outstanding piece. SIZE: Overall 39″ l x 30-3/4″ h x 10-1/2″ d., Sight size: 25″ w x 17″ h. CONDITION: Overall very good with bright colors with some peeling on the stage, some minor tears and general wear. Has been electrified. 1-11928 (3,500-5,500)
