FINE NEW YORK SHERATON CARVED MAHOGANY ARMCHAIR. Third quarter 19th Century attributed to the shop of Ernest Hagen, New York City. Of classical form, the reeded and turned crest rail carved with water leaves joined to square reeded backswept leaf-carved stiles continuing to shaped reeded arms on tapered cylindrical supports; the X-form splat centered with a flowerhead. The trapezoidal over upholstered seat in a brocade fabric raised on frontal tapering reeded and turned cylindrical legs, the rear legs backswept. SIZE: 33-1/2 h x 22-1/2 w overall. CONDITION: Retaining original surfaces and finish, proper left arm with some chaffing. Otherwise very good. 9-20072 (800-1,200)
