RARE FACTORY ENGRAVED BACON POCKET REVOLVER WITH DISPLAY CASE. Cal. 32 RF. SN 59. This was first successful swing out cylinder design. Only approx. 750 produced before patent infringement lawsuit by Smith & Wesson ended production in 1863. Left side of bbl is marked “G.W. Hopkins” with a patent date. Blued finish, 4” oct bbl with crisp markings, standard sights, 2-pc walnut grips. Accompanied by 11” x 16” blue felt lined display case made by consignor. It contains a mounted rare 38 RF Navy sized cartridge made by Crittenden & Tibbals Mfg. Co. circa 1860 and one 32 RF caliber cartridge and one rare U.S. Cartridge partial box of 32 Short cartridges. There is room in this display case for a Bacon Pinfire Revolver (2nd Model) Navy Revolver, SN 29, also being sold in this auction. CONDITION: Very fine. Bbl & frame retain about 75% orig blue, flaked to medium patina. Cyl retains 50-60% thin blue mixed with light patina. Frame retains 25-30% thin orig blue, mostly on right side with balance a smooth medium patina. Grips are sound and retain most of a restored finish. Mechanics are crisp. Bright, shiny bore with a spot or two of fine pitting. A crisp orig gun. Display case is fine. Cartridge box label is lightly soiled with the box turning brown. 4-59315 JH37 (1,500-2,500)
