MID-ATLANTIC WALNUT DOVETAILED BLANKET CHEST. First quarter 19th century, possibly coastal Virginia. The rectangular dovetailed case with hinged lid applied with half-round moldings, the sides fitted with brass carrying handles, raised on turned spool feet. Constructed with unusual rectangular dovetails and with yellow pine secondary wood. SIZE: 21-1/2″ h x 37″ l x 18″ d. PROVENANCE: From a fine Maine home. CONDITION: Structurally very good overall. End moldings need reattachment. Original lock present, latch absent. 9-21750 (300-500)
