IVES CLOCKWORK BOXERS. Also known as “The Pugilists”, this wonderful piece of black Americana is in all original untouched condition. The two figures depicting a fist-a-cuff over some unknown resolved issue. When the toy is wound, the one comical figure with glass eyes and an open mouth proceeds to try to knock out his friend who has a watermelon smile and painted eyes. Both figures are in completely original clothing which is in remarkably great condition with only some minor deterioration/fraying to one boxer’s trousers. Usually found on a walnut box, this is the oak version with original finish. Clockwork mechanism in need of lubrication although working and string/wire on one boxer is disconnected thus limiting his boxing action. SIZE: Approx. 8-1/4″ x 4-3/4″ x 10-3/4″ t.
